2006 Explorer Post 6201 Expo, January , 7PM

General NewsEvery year we celebrate our Fall projects at an Expo event in the Building 6 Conference Center. Every project will have a booth or demo at this event. Come and see what the other projects accomplished in the Fall!

When: January 24th, 2005, 7-8:30PM
Where: EP6 Conference Center

All explorers and their families are invited. Explorers can also pick up their Exploring t-shirts at this event.

Snow Cancellation

Week 5: GUI Programming and Widgets

Programming in PythonThis week we talked about Graphical User Interface (GUI) programming using the wxPython library.

Here's this week's assignment:

  1. Install wxPython and SPE using the instructions from the Week 3 debrief.
  2. Complete Part I of this wxPython tutorial.

After you complete that tutorial example, you can try this tutorial as well (start at section 5, "Hello World"). In this second tutorial, you create a text editor!

Week 4: OOP Funtimes

Programming in PythonThis week, we continued to learn about Object Oriented Programming (OOP). Here's your assignment for the week:
  • Complete the Complex example we did in class. Click "Read More" for the problem statement.
  • Please read the official Python tutorial's section on classes: Here's a link! (same as last week)
  • Review last week's assignment and make sure you understand the Vehicle, Car, and Bike classes. Ask any questions you may have in the comments.
  • This Java tutorial that has a basic overview of OOP. Please read it if you're still having problems understanding the basic concepts: OOP Concepts (same as last week)

October 2005 Tour: 174th Fighter Wing

General NewsOur next tour will take us to the 174th Fighter Wing. The tour will include a presentation from the civil engineers on base, a talk with some pilots, and a tour of the jets and engine shops.

All explorers are invited, but we ask that you call the Post Hotline to RSVP: (315) 456 -6201. Space will be limited to 40 explorers. Call the hotline to reserve your space today! In order to maximize the number of explorer participants, parents will not be allowed to attend the tour. Post advisors will be there to chaperon.

Note: Everyone should wear comfortable shoes and rain gear, if needed. We will be walking between the hangars, so dress appropriately.

  • When? Saturday, October 1st, 1:00-4:30PM
  • Where? 6001 E. Molloy Road, Syracuse, NY 13211


The directions to the 174th from Lockheed Martin: Take I-90 West to Exit 35 - E. Syracuse/Carrier Circle. Make the first right onto Thompson Rd. At the second light, turn left onto E. Molloy. The base is approx. 250 ft down the road on the right. There will be security guards posted at the gate. They will direct the parents where to park.
